L CLODI MACRI LIBERATRIX Bust of Africa to r. in elephant-skin. Two javelins in back. Rev. Aquila between two standards. LIB on l. downwards; AVG on r. upwards; LEG – III below.

Of the highest rarity. Small test cut on edge. Flan flaking on obv. and rev. Otherwise very fine.

Good VF, medium gray toning, a few marks under tone. Extremely rare. Only four examples were known to Hewitt, three of which were in museums.

An apparently unrecorded variety of an extremely rare type. Well-struck on an unusually good metal and with a pleasant iridescent tone, minor nick on cheek, otherwise extremely fine

Good VF, toned, die break on obverse, hairline flan crack. Extremely rare, fewer than 20 portrait denarii known.
